Weekly schedule and keep-warm: ready when people arrive

A sauna that runs all day costs power and wears the heater. A sauna that's cold when the guest arrives costs you the guest. The weekly schedule is what sits in between.

What a weekly schedule is

Fixed windows in the week when the sauna should be ready. Tuesday and Thursday 06:00 to 09:00 for the morning crowd. Saturday 10:00 to 22:00 for drop-in. Each window has its own temperature. You enter it once, and the controller follows it week after week.

Bookings sit on top of the schedule. If someone books 19:00 on a day with no window, the sauna starts anyway. The booking wins.

Keep-warm between sessions

Between two windows the sauna doesn't have to go cold. Set a hold temperature and the heater keeps the room warm. Then heating up for the next session takes minutes, not an hour. Ulmatic lets you hold up to 60 degrees.

That's the balance: low enough that it doesn't cost much, high enough that heat-up is quick.

Pre-heating that lands on time

The controller starts heating before the window opens, up to half an hour ahead. How far ahead, it works out itself. It learns how fast your particular sauna heats up, and how fast it cools. A small sauna with a strong heater gets a short pre-heat. A big one with a weak heater gets a long one.

The result is a sauna that hits its target when the window opens. Not twenty minutes after.

The schedule lives in the sauna

Schedule and bookings are stored on the controller in the sauna. If the internet drops, the schedule keeps running. If the power goes, the scheduled session resumes when it comes back. The cloud is for alerts and for control from your phone. Not for keeping the sauna warm.

Only one thing is required: a clock. The controller has a battery-backed one, and syncs from the internet when it's there.

When someone wants a little more

A press on the wall switch during a scheduled session extends it past the window's end. Nobody has to find an app.

When nothing should start

When the electrician is working, put the sauna in maintenance lockout. Then nothing starts. Not the schedule, not a booking, not the wall switch, not the app. The lockout survives a reboot and is lifted only by an operator.

How to set it up

1. Open the operator menu on the screen in the sauna. It's PIN-locked.
2. Drag out the windows in the weekly grid. Set a temperature per window.
3. Choose a hold temperature for the time in between, or leave it off.
4. Done. Bookings from your booking system land on top by themselves.
